“Home” is where you live. You may receive hospice services in your own home, that of a friend or relative, or a variety of facilities, including:
- Skilled Nursing Facilities
- Residential Care Facilities
- Assisted Living Facilities
- Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly
- Bruns House inpatient hospice facility
With a team approach, we augment the care provided to you in the facility where you reside, and we work closely with the facility staff to accommodate your needs and wishes.
You are the expert on your own wishes regarding your care. We understand that and focus on you and your comfort rather than on your illness. You choose from the full array of medical, emotional, spiritual, and practical hospice services that will enhance your quality of life. Hospice team members become part of your extended family, acting on your behalf as liaisons between the facility, your physician, and your family.
The Medicare Hospice Benefit covers the cost of your care in a facility. If you do not qualify for the Benefit, you are covered by other forms of insurance or by funds raised by the Hospice Foundation of the East Bay. No medically qualified patient is ever turned away.
